My copy of Quicken 2004 For Mac arrived the other day, and I dutifully installed it. Today, I downloaded transactions in it for the first time, hoping beyond hope that finally, in this version, the horrible bug that's been present (and reported by me) in Quickens 2001, 2002 and 2003 was fixed.
Nope.
What is this bug that is so diifficult for Intuit software engineers to figure out?
If you're downloading transactions, and attempting to match this brand new transaction the bank just told you about to the ones in the registry, it's a pretty good bet that a transaction you've already reconciled against the bank isn't the one to match it to!
I mean, seriously, how hard can that be? Apparently, it must require an advance degree in Quantum Mechanics or something.

I've been afraid to upgrade from Quicken 2001 because I've read that so many people have hated the upgrades since due to problems with the software, and Intuit customer/tech service/support is reputedly bad. I may end up switching to MS Money if my copy ever quits functioning.
{{hugs}} Is there any way to disable automatic matching of transactions? I seem to recall that you can do manual match on transactions.
Probably could... I've just gotten used to it, and I know that if I'm matching an ATM transaction, it's almost certainly NOT the same $41.50 transaction it thinks it is. ;-)
I've run into that occasionally. Once it thought that a transaction for the same amount of money - one that had been reconciled months before - matched the new transaction that had been downloaded. I told it to manually match it (basically, allow me to match it), and once I'd located the correct transaction, it was fine. Annoying, yes, but I'd probably worry about it if it happened with every transaction I downloaded.
