An Open Letter To "That Guy In The Benz"

Yeah, you may remember me... I was the guy driving the Jeep Liberty on 9W north this afternoon. I was doing 65-70 in a 55 in the show-off lane, driving along at a good clip, getting ready to pull back into the normal lane. You were the guy who decided I wasn't getting back over fast enough for you, so you decided to gun it past me in the "normal" lane, doing about 80.

I wanted to thank you for getting in between the State Trooper's radar gun and my car. It was much appreciated. In exchange for you playing "Secret Service catch-the-bullet" with my speeding ticket, I'll happily buy you a beer at the local establishment of your choice.

heh, sure what the hell, I'll buy him a beer as well if he promises to escort me on road trips.

One word: PRICELESS

I coulda used that guy sunday...*sighs* Is it really worth it to have the hearing over the ticket in the hopes that it'll be decreased in severity? lol

Doesn't NewCIO drive a Benz?

In Pennsylvania we call 'em "minesweepers"

It's usually a pickup truck rather than a Benz here though.

Actually, I drive a WRX not a mercedes, but you were too slow in getting out of the left lane. If I have enough room to pull over then certainly you do.
Driver right pass left, that's all I ask.

Thought a minesweeper was a car sure to get the cops running ahead of it. Last summer I followed one from JVM to I90 up the Taconic, four tatooed men in a General Sherman Pontiac convertable with the top down, the radio up, and three open container violations showing. Going about 80. I followed from a distance ;-)

I could have sworn it was a Mercedes not a Subaru, but as I look at the WRX, I could've been wrong.

Either way, just because you COULD get in behind me (in front of the car I was passing) doesn't mean that you *should* have... there's this whole concept of "safe distances" and "not cutting people off" that may have slipped your mind.
