Hitchhiker's Guide

So since D&D didn't happen this evening, Big George and I went to go see Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy. I'd read the bad reviews, I'd read the glowing reviews.

Was it different than any other iteration of the Guide (radio, TV, books)? Sure. What else would you expect?

Was it better? In places.

Was it worse? In places.

Was it good? Yes.

Should I see it? Yes. Decide for yourself, but I found it enjoyable.

Tera and I plan to see this today. Nice to know it's enjoyable. Thank God you worked through that panic attack yesterday ;)

Going to see it tomorrow.

(I'm sure people who are way bigger geeks than me will correct me, but this is what I think I know about HGG.)
What people don't usually know about HGG is that it began as a radio series, then a TV series, then the books. Each version is different than every other version on purpose. How else would Adams keep his sanity? That the new movie is different is no biggie to me, actually it makes me want to see it.

However, the question on my mind is, "How much of the "different" material that Adams wrote actually made it into the script?" Or did somebody just read the partial script he wrote and then make up stuff based on it? Either way it has a chance to be good, but one is more respectful than the other, and is likelier to ring true.

From what I've read, the script is about 95% DNA material. So, in that respect, it's very respectful. :-)

Funny...yes
waaayyy out there...yes
It was enjoyable in spots, I laughed, ask Derek. I rather enjoyed the BBC version and this wasn't bad for a Hollywood makeover.
The robot is the best
