Live 8 Coverage

Does anyone know if anyone other than Empty-V is showing Live 8 in the states? I mean, seriously, this is a long-ass concert stretching across like twelve time zones, and the Empty-V is only scheduled for an eight hour block of coverage. Doesn't exactly come across as a ringing endorsement that one would get to see the whole thing. I'm not even sure you could get the highlights into only eight hours.

And, of course, MTV doesn't have a hi-def version, so while the rest of the world gets basically "the whole show, in all its hi-def glory", us Merkins will be subjected to eight hours of MTV Tripe in low-def suckage.

Sigh.

Yeah, but I'm betting that they get the cast of every single Real Life/Road Trip/General Hospital to talk earnestly about what a fantastic thing The Five-Eight thing is and how wonderful it is to be back together right before the full DVD box set will be available.

Then they play with the Xbox-360 while they wait for Christina Aquavelva to do her thirty second intro of some group named U2 that everyone's parents keep listening to on the radio and is like some big deal or something.

The broadcast rights are owned by Yahoo! so there's very little chance of the whole concerts getting onto broadcast TV.

By Yahoo or by AOL? I see AOL and AOLMusic all over the Live8 site, but no mention at all of Yahoo.

I have a vision of having to grab a bootleg DVD off ebay in a week or two from someone in a civilized country who recorded it off the BBC broadcast or something.

AOL, Yahoo!... all the same to a guy who's start page is Memeorandum.

It's AOL, I just needed more coffee. and why wait until the boot DVD is out ... the bit torrent sites will have it up by next week.
